Blog Post #9: Resilience

I chose this picture because it shows resilience.
When something breaks or cracks, something beautiful come from that.
Could you ever see yourself sharing similar messages that your Letter Writer did? Why or why not? How would you share them?
One similar message that I could share that is located in James 4:1-17 is "You have no idea that your life will be like tomorrow. You are a puff of smoke that appears briefly and then disappears."This message is most impactful for me because I live my life for the day. I am a believer in Y.O.L.O. which means You Only Live Once. I believe that I can spread this message to people through a blog like this one, or create a group of people that do something new every day. One other message that I can spread to other people is “You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.” Some of the people when praying, ask to have great fortune or support in passing a test. This quote says that when you ask for things that benefit you, you might not receive them because you are not asking correctly in God’s eyes. I should spread this message by telling my friends and family of this action.

What were some new things that you learned from the Marian apparition projects presented in class (be specific)?
One new thing that I learned from the Marian apparition projects that we presented in small groups in class was when Our Lady of Lourdes asked for Bernet to drink from a spring of water. The spring then turned into a river of water. This water in the river had the power to heal people. There were 69 approved occasions when the river healed people. Of course, with each healing, there was more publicity, with means more and more people come to the river to be healed. One other thing that I found interesting was in Our Lady of Akita when there was a bright light and they saw the statue crying. In addition to the statue's hand, Sister Agnes had a bloody wound on her hand. Then she said that if the sin was not stopped then there would be many natural disasters that would occur. The last thing that I found interesting was with Our Lady of Knock. When the apparitions of Mayr, St. John, St. Joseph, a lamb, and one cross showed themselves to 15 people but did not say a word.

I chose this picture because it shows hor Our Lady of
Lourdes presented herself to Bernet in the Spring.
How did you see resilience at work within the Marian apparition that you researched?
My Marian apparition was Our Lady of Guadalupe. The main message of this apparition is that Mary shows her self as a native princess to Juan Deigo. She says that she would like a Temple to be built on the site of Tepeyac Hill, where she appeared. One that she will have a place to hear petitions and to heal the suffering of the Mexican people. She asked him to bring these plans to the Bishop. After listening to him, the Bishop dismisses him. So Juan Diego returns to the Hill and asks Her again, she responds telling him to return again. After listening again, the Bishop asks for a sign from Mary. Juan Diego plans to return the next morning, but when returning to his home, he finds his Uncle very ill. So, he spends the next two days searching for a priest who can prepare his Uncle for death. He is then instructed by Mary to return to the Hill once more and pick the flowers there and bring them to the Bishop. When he returns to the Bishop the third time, he opens his tilma, letting roses cascade to the floor with an astonishing painting of Our Lady on his tilma. Resilience is shown throughout this apparition when Juan Diego returns to the Bishop numerous times and when Our Lady returns over and over in order to build a stronger bond with the Mexican people.
I chose this picture to create a visual for the Juan Diego's Tilma.
Do you see yourself as being resilient? Why or why not?
Resilience is defined as the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. All of the Apostles faced challenges or difficulties whilst being an apostle. But because their faith in God, their fellow Apostles, and themselves, they had strong resilience and could recover quickly from these obstacles. I personally hope that I have resilience, but you never really know until you have to bounce back from a difficult action. However, I have faced some difficult times that I did need resilience from. One event that I had resilience was when my grandmother died not too long ago. I had a weak or two to mourn and cry, but then I bounced back and went to school the next day. I didn't forget what had happened, but I didn't let it control me. So I put a smile on my face and tried to get through it one day at a time.
